Lil Update August 2016

Long time no blog, huh? But what's new about that? Lily is growing up so much that it's unreal! She finally started talking and now she never shuts up! Haha! We're going on  "vacation" with Lisa and Scott this weekend to Tyler, Tx. We're going to the zoo, but I'm sure most of the weekend will be spent hanging out in the hotel. They have an indoor pool that Steven and Lily are thrilled about. Me, not so much lol. Life has been pretty much the same ol' same ol'. I've been getting prepared for Lily's 3rd birthday in October. We're gonna do a Mickey Mouse theme! Mainly because she really isn't into anything right now and it'll be easy to just do everything black and red. Ramble ramble ramble... so what has Lily been doing lately???

  1. She has decided that clothes are the Devil apparently because she spends 90% of her day naked.
  2. She loves to sing! She has a nursery rhymes app on my phone that she listens too all the time. She's been singing Hot Cross Buns all morning... Send help.
  3. As I said earlier, her speech has improved enormously! No more sign language for names! lol. She now speaks in full sentences! Unfortunately, this means there is never a quiet moment in the house...
  4. She knows all her colors! I must admit, I'm not well versed in how children should be progressing... I've never followed any of the charts on what they should know at what age. So I don't know if this is a real accomplishment or if every 2 year old can do this haha.
  5. She knows 1, 2, and 3 when she sees them.
  6. She has the memory of an elephant! Seriously, this kid never forgets anything! The other day she found a Minnie Mouse mirror and told me that her Paw Paw bought it for her and we went to his house. That was in December!! I barely remember that! She went with my mother to the store one day to get milk months ago; they went back a couple weeks ago to get some, but they went to the other store in town. Lily started pitching a fit that they had to get milk from the blue store and not the red store! Mama finally figured out that she was talking about the last time they went. Which also bring me to,,,
  7. She is a creature of habit. If you do something one way, you better plan to do it that way forever because she does not approve of change!
  8. I swear she is going to have to be on anti-anxiety medication by the time she's 5. She stresses out about everything! That she gets from my husband... We went with Lisa a few weeks ago to go eat Chinese food in a different town than we usually go to. I started the night before preparing her that we were going to a new place. She fell asleep singing "No new place, go old place". The next morning we kept telling her that we were going somewhere new. When we left the house, we turned right instead of left and she began to internally freak out. Usually when we get in the car, she plays on her Kindle and ignores us. Not that day... She kept her eyes on the road, looking stressed as hell because she didn't know where we were going. Half way there, she got over it and started singing. Then when we got there, they had chopsticks which completely won her over! Now every time we want to eat, she insists we go to the new place, and gets mad when we go to the old place...
  9. She loves dirt. And mud, And rain. Anything to make her nice and disgusting, then she likes to crawl up in your lap.
I'm sure there's so much more I could list, she truly is a wonderful child! But for now, I'm going to try and watch an episode of Criminal Minds on Netflix while she watches weirdos open toys on YouTube...

Dear Lily, part 3

Dear Lily,
You are now 2 years old. Time flies, huh? It seems like just yesterday you were born. I realized that I haven't written anything in a while, and you are so different from when I last updated.

  1. While you are still obsessed with Frozen, Spongebob (BobBob) is running a close second. Everything is BobBob. We've watched both movies I know 500 times each. And any time someone tries to cut on the tv, you insist it be put only to BobBob.
  2. You are still addicted to your pacifier. I try to only give it to you at bedtime, but between Daddy, Grammy, and your excellent finding skills, I'm failing.
  3. You're beginning to talk a bit more. A lot of your words sound the same though...
  4. You've been obsessed with "helping" lately.Whether it be you helping someone else or needing help yourself, I hear "hop" at least 45 times a day.
  5. You are also really into Doc McStuffins. But it's a cute show, so I have no complaints about it so far.
  6. I'm trying to get you interested in the potty. You love wearing underwear, but you only tell me after you've peed/pooped. If I try to catch you beforehand and sit you on the toilet, you will sit there indefinitely holding it in.
  7. You're scared of fireworks. But you call them "lights", which is confusing because you also love "lights" (christmas lights). But I can usually tell which one you're referring to because one is said with terror in your voice.
  8. You no longer nap. This has been going on for about 8 months or so now. You sleep great at night though, so I'm not complaining.
  9. You are very recently obsessed with cheeseburgers. Anytime we are not at home and ask you what you want to eat, its always "cheese". You can now recognize McDonald's from afar...
  10. I try to not worry too much about #9 because you are equally obsessed with vegetables. The other day you were eating a cheeseburger from Wendy's and you pulled out the tomato and lettuce looking like you had just won the lottery! I've never seen so much joy over produce...
I'm sure there's a lot more I could tell you, you are a very weird and quirky child. But I can't think of anything else right now, and you are currently laying on my head screaming hug! So I should probably cut this off now...
